Body Conversations

A creative movement, dance & meditation workshop

Theresa Weir, Dance Movement Psychotherapist at Barefoot

Meet Theresa Weir, Dance Movement Psychotherapist

Theresa Weir is the founder of Evolve Movement Therapy, which grew from her passion for making Dance Movement Psychotherapy, movement and meditation accessible to people from all walks of life.

Movement has always been an important part of Theresa’s life. She has explored dance and movement in many forms — from Authentic Movement and Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms to contemporary dance, alongside yoga, walking, Qi Gong and somatic meditation. For Theresa, movement is a way of connecting with the body, becoming more present, and deepening the relationship between body and mind.

Her interest in the human experience led to a 15-year career in mental health nursing, supporting people through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. Curious about how we heal and grow, she gained a Master of Arts in Dance Movement Psychotherapy from Roehampton University (2010) and became a certified Community Dance Leader with the Laban Guild for Movement and Dance (2015). More recently she qualified as an accredited Meditation Teacher through the British School of Meditation.

Theresa brings together a unique blend of therapeutic understanding, mindful movement, dance and meditation to create spaces where people can explore, reconnect and develop a greater sense of wellbeing. She believes in the power of movement and meditation as a pathway to creating a personal choreography for where you are — and where you want to be.

What to expect

Discover what happens when you allow your body to shift, consciously, from one movement to another — a process that unfolds through a facilitated movement sequence, encouraging your own unique choreography.

Theresa’s Body Conversations workshops interweave dance, meditation, Authentic Movement and Laban Movement to create a space where you can reconnect with your body, discover your natural movement language and explore creativity in a supportive, inclusive environment. Through guided improvisation and somatic exploration, you’re encouraged to listen inwardly, trust your intuition and experience movement as a source of discovery — essentially, movement that feels right for you.

Each session journeys through

  • Grounding and mindful awareness
  • Body sensing and embodied listening
  • Creative movement exploration
  • Improvisation and expression
  • Individual and group connection

Every body is welcome — from those with dance experience to those who simply wish to explore movement, creativity and embodied awareness. Ultimately, these workshops are about experiencing movement as curiosity, connection, play, and discovering what is possible.
