DANCE CLASS
*not just a dance class

Meet Lisa Kernoghan
Lisa Kernoghan (MA, RDMP, ADMPUK, IACAT) is a Dance Movement Psychotherapist with over 25 years’ experience working across the creative industries. She completed her Master’s degree in Dance Movement Psychotherapy with Distinction in 2024 and specialises in helping people reconnect with themselves through the language of the body.
Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) is an evidence-informed form of psychotherapy that recognises movement as a powerful expression of our emotional life. Rather than relying solely on words, DMP works with the relationship between body, mind and emotion, acknowledging that our experiences, patterns and stress responses are often held physically as well as psychologically.
Lisa’s work is grounded in psychodynamic and trauma-informed practice, with a particular interest in nervous system regulation. Her approach moves beyond the idea that wellbeing is achieved simply by “calming down.” Instead, she explores how rhythm, music, movement and safe human connection can help the body complete stress responses, build resilience and expand our capacity for joy, creativity and authentic expression.
Drawing on both clinical practice and decades of experience as a choreographer and educator, Lisa creates spaces that are warm, accessible and deeply human, inviting people to move beyond survival and rediscover a greater sense of aliveness.
About DANCE CLASS
DANCE CLASS is a high-energy somatic movement experience designed to help you reconnect with yourself through rhythm, music and movement.
Modern life keeps many of us in a constant state of stress. We spend our days sitting, scrolling, overthinking and trying to “keep it together”, then wonder why switching off feels impossible. We often tell ourselves to calm down, when in reality our bodies are asking for something very different.
Our nervous systems are designed to move. Stress isn’t just something we think — it lives in the body. To complete the body’s natural stress cycle, we need movement, breath, rhythm, expression and connection. Sometimes what your body needs isn’t another mindfulness app or deep breathing exercise. Sometimes it needs to sweat, shake, laugh, stomp, sing along to 90s dance classics and remember what it feels like to be fully alive.
Every class blends structured choreography with guided improvisation, creating opportunities to move without judgement, inhabit your body more fully and expand your capacity for sensation, confidence and joy. This isn’t about dancing perfectly or performing for anyone else. It’s about taking up space, learning to build self-trust, and having fun.
Expect movement that energises you, music that carries you, moments of freedom, plenty of laughter and a workout for both your body and brain.
Whether you’ve danced your whole life or haven’t stepped into a studio for years, DANCE CLASS meets you where you are. You’ll leave feeling more connected, more present and more like yourself.
